“Abu Janti” returns to the neighborhoods of Damascus, and Shukran Murtaja is the latest to join

- The famous Syrian series “Abu Janti”, starring the artist Samer Al-Masry, returns with a third part scheduled to be shown in the 2027 Ramadan drama season. On Wednesday, the producing company announced the return of actress Shukran Murtaja as “Souad” in the anticipated new part.

The first character that the series brought back in its new part is the character “Abu Laila”, played by the artist Ayman Reda. It was recently announced that the distinguished actress Samia Al-Jazairi will return as the mother of “Abu Janti” in the third part of the series.

The events of “Abu Janti” revolve around the diary of a taxi driver in Damascus, and the funny paradoxes he encounters during his daily wandering in the neighborhoods of the Levant. The first part of the series was presented during the 2010 Ramadan drama season, and achieved great public success at that time.

A second part of the series "Abu Janti" was presented in the 2012 Ramadan drama season, directed by Ammar Radwan, where the driver whose name the series bears moved to work in Dubai, after the artist Samer Al-Masry left Syria following the outbreak of the "Syrian Revolution." Two years after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, "Abu Janti" returns to the neighborhoods of the Levant, in a sign that may carry a special symbolism indicating the beginning of the return of displaced and absent Syrians to their country, after the harsh years that hundreds of thousands of them lived outside their homeland.

The third part of “Abu Janti” bears the signature of Zuhair Qanou, director of the first part
