Tel Aviv - Afaq News - The head of the "Yashar" party and candidate for the Israeli government leadership, Gadi Eisenkot, attacked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this evening, Wednesday, in light of a journalistic investigation expected to be published at the end of the week, which addresses Eisenkot's "distortions" that Netanyahu apparently made in a document submitted to the State Comptroller regarding the events of October 7.
Eisenkot called on the government's legal advisor to "delve into the matter" and issue instructions to open an immediate and comprehensive criminal investigation to verify the gaps between the original documents and the materials submitted by Netanyahu.
Eisenkot said: "Those who lie do not deserve the price we paid, and they cannot fix things after the disaster has occurred, and they do not deserve to lead Israel."
He added that there have been "three years of attempts to escape responsibility, cover up the disaster, and evade the truth," considering that there is an "outrageous attempt to rewrite history at the expense of the dead, the wounded, and their families, and at the expense of Israel's future."
He continued: "Those who distorted the documents and obstructed the evidence must be held accountable for that. The search for the truth is not a privilege, but a condition for restoring trust and preventing the next disaster."
