Israel Hayom: The Palestinians are losing India...and Israel is strengthening its presence in New Delhi

Tel Aviv - Horizon News - “Israel Hayom” newspaper said that relations between Israel and India have witnessed a remarkable development in recent years, coinciding with the decline of the Palestinian presence in the Indian political scene, considering that the Palestinians are trying to rebuild their presence in India and restore part of the historical relationship with it.

The newspaper pointed out that the Battle of Haifa in 1918, in which Indian soldiers and knights participated in the British forces against the Ottoman army, still has a symbolic presence in India, explaining that the Indian army commemorates the battle annually.

According to the report, the anniversary of the participation of Indian soldiers in the Battle of Haifa has become one of the symbols used to highlight relations between India and Israel, at a time when relations between the two countries have witnessed a significant expansion in the political, security and economic fields.

Israel Hayom pointed out that India has historically been one of the countries that expressed support for the Palestinian cause, but Indian-Israeli relations have developed significantly since the establishment of full diplomatic relations between the two countries, leading to a broad partnership in several fields.

The report believes that this transformation has presented the Palestinians with a challenge: how to maintain their presence and relations within India, in light of the growing Israeli-Indian relations.

In an attempt to confront this decline, the report refers to Palestinian movements aimed at re-highlighting the historical and cultural ties between the Palestinian people and India, and benefiting from the relations that have developed between the two sides over decades.

These developments come as the partnership between New Delhi and Tel Aviv continues to strengthen, while the Palestinian Authority seeks to maintain its political and diplomatic relations with India, which has always occupied an important position in Palestinian foreign policy.
