The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority announced today, Friday, that a tanker was attacked by an unknown projectile while exiting the Strait of Hormuz, which led to the outbreak of a limited fire and a power outage on board.
The authority said that the captain of the tanker reported that the ship was “struck by an unspecified projectile while sailing out of the strait,” causing a small fire and a power outage.
She added that the tanker's crew was able to control and extinguish the fire, confirming that there were no reports of injuries or environmental damage as a result of the accident.
The authority explained that the tanker, which did not reveal its name or the flag it was flying, continued its journey after the fire was brought under control.
