Lebanese President Joseph Aoun requested the arrest of Hezbollah officials in connection with the explosives truck case, according to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar on Saturday.
The newspaper said, in its issue issued today, that the President of the Republic, Aoun, asked Army Intelligence to expand investigations into the explosives truck case, and added that the discriminatory Public Prosecutor, Rami Al-Hajj, then took the initiative to issue judicial orders to the security services in order to arrest the head of the Hezbollah Liaison and Coordination Committee, Hussein Al-Abdullah, and his assistant, Ali Ayoub, against the background of their knowledge of the explosives truck and their responsibility for the matter, and with the aim of knowing the identity of all other officials.
The newspaper reported that the state is proceeding on the path of internal confrontation and provocation. As for Hezbollah, which announced through Representative Hassan Fadlallah its refusal to give up the explosives, it moved the dispute from the level of security and judicial treatment to direct confrontation with the authorities.
The newspaper revealed that Hezbollah is no longer dealing with internal pressures with the logic that previously governed its positions, and that the accumulation of confrontations, with the continuation of Israeli attacks and the absence of a clear horizon for a settlement, may push it to reconsider its calculations regarding the limits of internal conflict.
She pointed out that Aoun sought to push the American side to pressure Israel, according to palace leaks. But the course of American demands does not yet suggest that this approach is a priority for Washington.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam confirmed last Monday that there will be no leniency or leniency regarding the investigation into the case of seizing more than half a ton of TNT and C4 explosive materials.
The government commissioner to the military court, Lebanese judge Claude Ghanem, heard two detainees in the explosive materials case, where the seized items were placed in the custody of the Lebanese military police.
