The Kuwaiti Ministry of Education announced that a number of female students in a secondary school for girls were exposed to cases of suffocation, stressing that all cases are stable, and that the competent authorities are closely following up on the students’ health conditions, in coordination with the concerned authorities and taking the necessary measures.

The Ministry stated in a statement that the Minister of Education, Engineer Sayed Al-Tabtabai, directed that the incident be referred to investigation immediately, to determine its causes, circumstances and all details related to it, determine responsibilities, and take appropriate measures in light of the results of the investigation.

The Minister also directly followed up on the health conditions of the female students, and directed the competent authorities in the Ministry to follow up on their condition and ensure their safety, and to coordinate with the relevant authorities to deal with the incident and take the necessary measures.

The Ministry affirmed that the safety of students and educational and administrative bodies is at the top of its priorities, stressing the continued follow-up of female students and monitoring of developments in the incident, and its keenness to provide everything necessary to ensure their safety.

The Ministry of Education stressed that it will not tolerate any behavior or action that would undermine the security and safety of the school environment or expose students and staff to danger, stressing that the safety of students is a fundamental responsibility, and that any violation of rules and regulations will be met with the necessary firmness.

The Ministry also confirmed the implementation of the behavioral system and related regulations against anyone proven responsible for any violations related to the incident, according to the results of the investigation, and in a way that ensures that any behavior that violates the approved regulations and controls is dealt with with all firmness and responsibility.

The Ministry reaffirmed its continued follow-up of the incident until the procedures are completed, and the necessary decisions are taken in light of the results of the investigation, in a way that enhances the provision of a safe and stable educational environment for all students and workers in the educational field.
