The index of industrial production quantities increased during August

Ramallah - Ofoq News - The Central Bureau of Statistics announced an increase in the index of industrial production quantities by 1.21% during the month of August 2026, compared to the previous month, as it reached 84.68, compared to 83.67 during the month of July 2026 (base year 2019 = 100).

He added, in a statement issued today, Sunday, in this regard, that electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activities recorded an increase of 14.12%, whose relative importance constitutes 7.38% of the total industry activities.

Water supply, sanitation, waste management and treatment activities also recorded an increase of 6.24%, whose relative importance constitutes 1.84% of the total industry activities.

While manufacturing activities recorded a decrease of 0.60% during the month of August 2026 compared to the previous month, whose relative importance constitutes 87.89% of the total industry activities.

As for the sub-activities that have a large relative impact on the overall index, some manufacturing activities recorded a decrease during the month of August 2026 compared to the previous month, the most important of which are: Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, manufacture of formed metal products other than machinery and equipment, manufacture of tobacco products, manufacture of textiles, and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products.

On the other hand, the index recorded an increase in some manufacturing activities, the most important of which are: Manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations, manufacture of clothing, manufacture of furniture, printing and reproduction of recorded media activity, manufacture of food products, industry of wood and wood products, and manufacture of paper and paper products.

Mining and quarrying activities recorded a decrease of 0.43%, whose relative importance constitutes 2.89% of the total industry activities.

The census noted that 11% of industrial establishments in the Gaza Strip returned to work during the month of August 2026, out of 114 establishments representing the industrial index sample in the Strip.
