Riyadh - Ofoq News - The Saudi Ministry of Energy said in a statement that an administrative building belonging to the state oil company Aramco was attacked in the city of Dhahran in the east of the Kingdom, causing a limited fire, as fighting escalated between the Yemeni Houthis allied with Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The ministry added that the authorities began dealing with the incident late on Tuesday and took the necessary measures, noting that there were no injuries or deaths.
A source in the company told Reuters earlier that a ballistic missile targeted the Aramco headquarters complex in Dhahran. The source reported that an administrative tower in the complex was targeted and its upper three floors were damaged.
The source and two other informed people said that the building caught fire.
The complex includes a major operations center for Aramco that oversees a wide network of onshore and offshore oil platforms, pipelines, refineries and export terminals.
The Houthis have been launching ballistic missiles and drones at important Saudi sites for a week, in response to the Kingdom's support for government forces in the civil war that has reignited in Yemen.
Riyadh International Airport was subjected to four strikes, including an attack on Saturday that killed 13 people.
Six sources told Reuters earlier that they heard a loud bang near the Aramco complex.
The Saudi-led coalition said that fragments of a missile it intercepted and destroyed in Dhahran fell on a residential area, without providing further details.
The authorities also reported that drones and missiles were intercepted and destroyed in the capital, Riyadh, and the southern region of the country.
