Jerusalem - Ofoq News - Video scenes showed field work that included the movement of trucks, bulldozers, and excavation operations at the site designated for the establishment of the permanent headquarters of the US Embassy, south of occupied Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate said, “The plan for establishing the headquarters was submitted to the planning authorities in February 2021, and was approved on September 29, 2023, before being confirmed on April 17, 2024. On March 24, 2026, the occupation government agreed to allocate the land for the permanent headquarters of the embassy, while the agreement to allocate it was signed on July 1, 2026.”
She added, "The ownership of lands within the site, according to archival documents, belongs to Palestinian Jerusalemite families, including the Al-Khalidi, Al-Khalili, Habib and Razzaq families, in addition to land linked to an atomic endowment for the family of Sheikh Muhammad Al-Khalili."
The documents indicate that the occupation authorities seized these lands in 1950 under the Absentee Property Law, following the Nakba of 1948, and registered them in the name of the state, despite the objections of the descendants of the original owners to the establishment of the embassy on their lands.
