Ramallah - Ofoq News - During the past night and until Thursday morning hours, the Israeli occupation forces carried out a campaign of arrests and field investigations that affected about 95 citizens in several areas and towns in the West Bank, and the field investigations recorded the largest number of cases.
The arrests and field investigations were concentrated in the town of Aqaba in Tubas Governorate, the town of Madama in Nablus Governorate, and the city of Yatta, south of Hebron, in addition to areas in Jenin, Bethlehem, and Al-Bireh.
In the city of Qalqilya, the occupation forces launched a massive arrest campaign that targeted freed prisoners and the families of freed prisoners and prisoners, including the mother of a freed prisoner and the wife of a prisoner. They also stormed dozens of homes, including the home of the head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee, Muayyad Shaaban.
The Prisoners' Club said that the raids, arrests, and field investigations were accompanied by sabotage and destruction of the contents of homes, and attacks on citizens, in light of a continuing escalation in the use of force and violence against Palestinians.
He added that this campaign comes in the context of a continuous escalation, coinciding with the escalation of settler attacks on Palestinian towns and villages and the olive harvest season, which witnesses repeated attacks on Palestinians, their lands and property, in conjunction with the continued seizure of lands and the expansion of settlements.
The Prisoners' Club emphasized that mass arrests and field investigations constitute one of the tools of the system of control imposed by the occupation on the Palestinian people, in addition to raids, abuse, demolition of homes, and attacks on citizens and their property, noting that these policies have witnessed an unprecedented escalation since the start of the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip.
He explained that the arrests and field investigations in the West Bank coincide with the escalation of settlement activity and settler attacks, which reflects the complementary roles of the occupation army, its agencies, and the settlers in imposing more control over the land and the population.
More than 26 thousand arrests since the start of the genocide war
The Prisoners' Club indicated that the total number of arrests in the West Bank has exceeded 26 thousand cases since the start of the genocide war in the Gaza Strip, in addition to thousands of arrests carried out by the occupation in the Strip.
In this context, the occupation announced yesterday that it had carried out 46,000 arrests and investigations against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank since the start of the genocide war.
The Prisoners' Club warned that the continuation of these crimes in the absence of international accountability encourages the occupation to continue using arrest, field investigation, and other tools of repression and control.
He renewed his call on the international community and human rights institutions to assume their responsibilities, and work to hold the occupation accountable for the ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, including mass arrest, field investigation, torture, murder, and settlement activity.
