Hebron - Ofoq News - Today, Saturday, the Israeli occupation forces closed the Ibrahimi Mosque to citizens, and shops in the Old City in the center of Hebron.
The occupation forces also tightened their military measures and closed all military checkpoints and electronic gates leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque, to secure settlers’ celebrations in the Mosque and its squares.
Our correspondent confirmed that the occupation forces closed shops in the Old City of Hebron and intensified their presence at all entrances leading to the Mosque to secure settlers’ access to the Old City, the Mosque, and the archaeological areas.
Today, the occupation authorities also issued a military decision clarifying the conduct of a settlers’ march in the Old City in the center of Hebron, starting from the Al-Ain Al-Hamra area and passing through Al-Ja’bari Quarter, the Endowments Directorate, the Kurdish Diwan, the Al-Zahid area, and the Old Municipality Gate, reaching the land they seized on Al-Shalala Street in the center of Hebron, and then returning on the same route.
The director of the Ibrahimi Mosque, Moataz Abu Sneineh, denounced the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque under the pretext of securing the settlers’ celebration of the “Joy of the Torah and the Jewish Throne,” considering this a blatant violation of its sanctity and a provocative attack on the right of Muslims to access their places of worship.
On the other hand, settlers attacked the homes of citizens from the Shanaran family in Wadi Al-Rakhim, south of Yatta, assaulted them and set fire to the citizens’ straw bales next to their homes.
It is noteworthy that the Jewish holidays constitute a nightmare that disturbs the lives of citizens in Hebron, especially since they coincide with major violations committed by the occupation forces, including imposing a siege and tightening military measures at checkpoints, and obstructing citizens’ access to their homes, especially in the ancient town of Hebron and its surroundings.
