The Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen announced on Friday that a drone had been intercepted and destroyed in the Mecca region, after confirming the interception and destruction of two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis towards Najran. The official spokesman for the “Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen,” Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that a drone was intercepted and destroyed in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, according to what was reported by the Saudi “SPA” news agency.
Earlier Friday, Turki Al-Maliki said that the air defense intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Najran, and fragments fell as a result of the interception, and the damage is being assessed. Since the escalation began weeks ago, the coalition has repeatedly announced that it had shot down drones in Mecca, but the Iran-backed Houthi group denied targeting the holy city for Muslims around the world.
The spokesman for the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Yahya Saree, announced on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, on Thursday evening, that they “carried out a targeting operation at Fahd International Airport in Dammam with a drone. The operation achieved its goal successfully, and led to the disruption of traffic at the airport,” he said. For its part, the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council said on Friday that Operation “Yemen Dawn” is moving steadily towards achieving its full goals to end the “coup,” restore state institutions, and extend its sovereignty over the entire national territory, renewing its pledge to the Yemeni people to restore their decision and the right of their children to a future not ruled by militias.
The Council explained, in a statement on the occasion of the one-month anniversary of the launch of Operation “Yemen Dawn,” that the armed forces had carried out, since October 5, 40,761 military targeting operations against the Houthi militias on various fronts, during which about 20,000 of their leaders and members were neutralized, and more than 5,000 vehicles were destroyed and damaged, stressing that this toll reflects the extent of attrition and painful strikes that the militias are receiving and their military capabilities, according to what The "Saba" agency reported, in its version affiliated with the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
