George Washington (CVN 73) continues to support the implementation of the blockade, explaining that one of the US Navy's MH-60 RC Hawk helicopters took off from the deck of the aircraft carrier as part of these operations. US Central Command added that these measures come within the context of the "strict blockade" imposed by the United States on Iran.
The US Central Command announced that the US naval blockade imposed on Iran prevented Tehran from exporting crude oil worth no less than $25 billion, coinciding with the 100th day since the resumption of the blockade. Centcom added: “The blockade contributed to preventing Iran from exporting crude oil worth at least $25 billion, and also limited the ability of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to finance its affiliated militias, criminal networks, and terrorist activities.”
In the face of the American blockade, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard responded by targeting dozens of commercial ships and oil and gas tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
