After discussing the American response to his country's latest proposal to stop the war and open the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian confirmed that Tehran is committed to implementing the "Islamabad" understandings, referring to the agreement that was signed last June.

The United States and Iran began discussing guarantees and a mechanism to implement the 7-day plan to resolve the conflict during the indirect negotiations that Qatar resumed last week.

A senior source confirmed to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath earlier today that the indirect negotiations had moved to the stage of discussing the mechanism for implementing the plan and providing guarantees, indicating that the mediators had conveyed Washington’s response to Minister Araghchi.

The source also explained that the seven-day plan recently proposed by Iran needs “fundamental amendments” before talking about any progress, adding that the two main issues are the order in which the agreements will be implemented, and which of the two parties will start moving first.

While another source revealed that the main differences relate to the arrangement of steps within the plan that aims to return to the expanded version of the US-Iranian memorandum of understanding that was signed last June, according to Reuters.
