With the advancement of Yemeni forces in the western coast northward under air cover, military sources reported that government forces have taken control of Dhobab and are continuing their advance towards the city of Mokha.
The sources also indicated today, Monday, that elements of the Houthi militias are besieged in the Bab al-Mandab sector and on the island of Meon. They noted that government forces have captured dozens of Houthi elements and are heading towards the Al-Amari camp.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni armed forces announced that the National Shield and the Giants Brigades are carrying out a wide operation under air cover.
They also indicated that they have liberated the Dhobab district and continue to advance according to the approved plans in the battle to end the coup.
A government military source clarified earlier today that Yemeni forces have regained areas surrounding Bab al-Mandab, in southwestern Yemen, and have come close to completely cutting off the supply line of the Houthi group to the Dhobab area, in a military operation that has been ongoing since the morning under heavy air cover. The source stated that units from the Giants Brigades and the National Shield Forces, with the support of tribal fighters, entered Dhobab Airport and the new Victory Road after executing a maneuver from behind the village of Al-Suqiya, according to the German news agency (dpa).
It was also noted that the forces executed a well-planned ambush that separated the Houthi forces present in Bab al-Mandab from those located in the Dhobab area. He added that the joint forces managed to cut the road linking Al-Suqiya to the Al-Amari camp, which, according to field information, led to the encirclement of Houthi elements in the Bab al-Mandab sector and on Meyun Island.
Additionally, it was confirmed that several Houthis were killed and a large number of them fled their positions, while the joint forces captured several prisoners, indicating that the joint forces are currently heading towards the Al-Amari camp.
Furthermore, he spoke about the continuation of military operations on the western coast under air cover amid "significant advances by the joint forces and the surrender of many Houthi elements."
These developments came a day after the announcement by the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, of the commencement of military operations to reclaim what remains of the republic's territory and to establish the authority of the state and its institutions over the entire national territory, following what he described as the exhaustion of opportunities for a ceasefire.
