Dozens of factory workers in the city of Port Said, northern Egypt, were poisoned after eating a koshari meal.
35 workers in a garment factory in Port Said suffered from food poisoning after eating a koshari meal prepared in the factory kitchen.
The concerned authorities formed a joint committee to conduct field visits and inspect the kitchen where the incident occurred.
The committee decided to take samples of the koshari meal with its contents, as well as inspect the cooking oil used in preparation for cooking the meals, and urgently send them to accredited and specialized laboratories for analysis and to determine the causes of the incident.
The committee also decided to immediately seize some products and foodstuffs to verify their safety due to the lack of official invoices indicating their source.
The authorities decided to stop operating the factory kitchen permanently and immediately until the results of laboratory analyzes of the drawn samples appear, and it meets all health requirements and standards approved by the National Food Safety Authority.
