On board Flight FZ1073 of Flydubai, the flight atmosphere from Dubai to Tel Aviv turned into a state of emergency, after the co-pilot stabbed the Indian pilot, according to preliminary reports, statements and witness testimonies.

The plane's pilot was able to resist the attacker and open the cockpit door, which required the intervention of a number of passengers to help control the situation. This information remains preliminary, pending the ongoing investigations to reveal additional details about the circumstances of the incident and the sequence of its events.

During the flight, the aircraft transmitted code 7700, used to indicate a general emergency, before later transmitting code 7500, intended to report unlawful interference or possible hijacking, and then returned to transmitting code 7700.

Flight tracking data also showed changes in altitude and trajectory, while available information indicated that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 plane, after changing its course, landed safely at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk, while information stated that all passengers were fine.

For his part, aviation and air safety sector expert Mahmoud Al-Qat told Al Arabiya that the cockpit recordings represent an essential element in the investigation, explaining that the recordings that document what happened between the pilots can reveal the sequence of events and details that preceded and during the incident.

Regarding the tool used in the stabbing, the cat ruled out that it was a food utensil, noting that the nature of the injuries may help investigators determine the tool used. He also did not rule out the co-pilot resorting to some trick to hide the tool of the incident.

According to the testimony of one of the Israeli passengers, who was received by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after arriving on the replacement plane, he realized the seriousness of the situation after he saw the cockpit door open and heard the pilot’s screams. According to his story, the passenger cooperated with a number of passengers in entering the cockpit and controlling the attacker, who, according to his testimony, tried to shoot down the plane and disable its controls. He added that, with the help of the passengers, he was able to resist him and get him out of the cockpit.

The passenger, who works as a plumber, explained that he then pulled the plane's control stick in an attempt to prevent it from falling and control it.

From the moment the distress call was received, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk dealt with the incident, preparing response and emergency teams to receive the plane. Tabuk Airport announced that it had received the distress call from the flight at 8:44 am, before the plane landed safely at 9:45 am.

The plane showed that its tail was shattered after it fell by more than 14,000 feet during a period ranging between 30 and 50 seconds.

After landing, the concerned authorities dealt with the injuries of the two pilots, and they were taken to the hospital to receive medical care, while the necessary care was provided to the passengers.

For its part, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia announced that Indian pilot Smit Machhar, pilot of the Flydubai flight that was diverted to Tabuk, is receiving the necessary health care in the Kingdom.

The embassy stated that his health condition is stable, according to available information, while awaiting a comprehensive medical update on his injuries.

She added that she is in contact with the pilot's family, stressing that his health condition is continuing to be monitored in coordination with the Saudi authorities, which are providing him with the necessary assistance to ensure that he receives medical care.

The Saudi Transport Safety Center announced the start of an investigation into the Flydubai plane accident, explaining that the plane was involved in an accident during its flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, before it was diverted and made an emergency landing at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk.

The center confirmed that it is coordinating with the relevant authorities regarding the investigation, and is working to collect relevant information and evidence to determine the circumstances of the incident and determine its details.

After the emergency landing, Flydubai sent two planes to transport passengers, according to what was reported by the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, after the newspaper indicated that Saudi Arabia rejected an Israeli request to send a plane to transport passengers. On the other hand, the Kingdom later announced that it was dealing with the incident in accordance with international laws and applicable regulations.

The Emirates News Agency reported that the Public Prosecutor directed the formation of an investigation team of members of the Public Prosecution, to investigate the Flydubai incident flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv. It also reported that the Public Prosecutor’s directive required taking the necessary measures to collect information and evidence, determine the truth of the incident, its circumstances, circumstances and motives, and verify the extent of its connection to any terrorist activity or purpose or the existence of prior planning or direction for it.

The UAE Attorney General confirmed that the investigations are still ongoing, calling for avoiding speculation or circulating unreliable information about the incident before the authorities complete the investigations.

Until now, the details of the minutes that preceded the incident and what happened inside the cockpit remain the focus of investigations, awaiting the results of examining the cockpit recordings, the statements of the pilots and passengers, and the evidence collected after the plane landed.

While preliminary information indicates that the pilot and co-pilot were injured, determining the exact circumstances of the accident, its motives, and the sequence of events remains dependent on what the official investigations will reveal.
