At the Global Perspectives events, Thompson: Qatar is “laying the foundation for a better future.”

- Before the start of the first session, Sir Mark Thompson, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of the Ofoq News International Network, expressed his thanks to the State of Qatar and to “Qatar Media City” - the sponsor of the “Oofoq News Global Perspectives” events - stressing at the same time the pivotal role that Qatar plays in building a prosperous future on the global level. Thompson pointed out that the region may not have recently received media coverage related to “positive reasons,” in light of the conflicts and geopolitical tensions it is witnessing.

But he explained that the Ofoq News Global Perspectives event represents an opportunity to remind the public that Qatar “represents a model of growth and innovation, and strives to nurture and develop human potential.” He added that Qatar "has maintained the approach of diplomacy and dialogue even in the darkest circumstances, not only with the aim of ending conflicts, but also to lay the foundations for a better, more prosperous and cooperative future."

It is noteworthy that the “Global Perspectives” event is the first time that the series of direct events of the Ofoq News Network has been held in the Middle East, as we chose the Qatari capital to be a meeting point for leaders from the region and beyond, with the aim of exchanging their visions and ideas.
