The Carmel Municipality supports olive farmers with an agreement to loan agricultural equipment

Carmel - Ofoq News - The mayor of Carmel, Qasim Abu Aram, signed a cooperation agreement with the Agricultural Relief Society, in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, within the project “Enhancing the resilience and sustainability of agricultural livelihoods for livestock breeders and olive farmers affected by settler violence and access restrictions in the central and northern West Bank,” funded by the Humanitarian Fund for the Occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt Humanitarian Fund).

The agreement aims to support farmers and enhance their steadfastness, especially those affected by settler attacks and restrictions on access to their agricultural lands, by providing agricultural equipment that contributes to facilitating the work of olive harvesting and land clearing, reducing the risks facing farmers, and enabling them to continue working on their lands and taking care of them.

The equipment available for use includes electric olive pickers and electric herb shears, provided that it is made available to agricultural groups that meet the approved conditions and standards, ensuring collective use of the equipment and achieving the widest possible benefit from it.

In this context, the Carmel Municipality announces the opening of applications to benefit from and borrow agricultural equipment, calling on farmers who meet the conditions to initiate registration within the specified period.

Conditions and mechanism of benefit

▪️The targeted agricultural lands should be within the areas covered by the project, with priority given to farmers most affected by settler attacks and access restrictions.

▪️The applicant group must include at least four agricultural families, sharing the use of the equipment according to a clear and agreed-upon collective mechanism.

▪️The group must own actual areas planted with olives, and the required equipment must be proportional to the number of beneficiaries and the targeted areas.

▪️ Commitment to maintain the equipment and use it for the agricultural purposes for which it is intended, and to return it to the specified party after the end of the period of use, and not to rent, sell, or use it for personal purposes.

▪️ The announcement includes residents of Khallet Saleh/Khalidiya/Ma’in/Ghaziwa/Al-Jawaya/Carmel

Application deadlines

Receiving applications begins on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, and ends on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Place for submitting applications: Carmel Municipality, in coordination with the local committee representing farmers.

The Carmel Municipality affirms its keenness to strengthen partnership with agricultural and development institutions, intensify efforts aimed at supporting farmers, and provide tools that help them continue to invest and protect their lands and enhance their resilience in the face of challenges.
