In the development of the Iran file, Pakistani Army Commander Asim Munir is scheduled to arrive in Iran today, Tuesday, according to what a Pakistani official and Iranian media said.
The scheduled visit follows talks that took place earlier in the summer between Mounir and Iranian leaders, which focused on measures to prevent further escalation, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and end the conflict as quickly as possible.
Munir is scheduled to hold meetings and discussions with Iranian officials, according to Tasnim Agency, explaining that the visit will address Islamabad’s role in mediating between Iran and the United States.
For his part, in an election speech in Kansas, US President Donald Trump reiterated that America has completely destroyed Iran's air and naval military capabilities.
He added that Iranian radars and anti-aircraft weapons were also destroyed. Trump also said that the first and second levels of Iranian leadership were killed, and that the remaining leaders in Iran want a guarantee that Washington will not kill them as it killed others.
For the second time within hours, Iran threatened to target the technological infrastructure linked to the United States in the region if attacks on it resumed, in a threat that includes submarine Internet cables.
Seven major Internet cables pass under the Strait of Hormuz, representing essential arteries for communications, commercial data traffic, and the Internet in the world.
These cables carry a large proportion of Internet and data traffic between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The infrastructure for electronic payments, digital government services, and communications in the region largely depends on it.
The routes of these cables are more concentrated on the Omani side of the strait due to the sanctions imposed on Iran.
The most prominent cables passing through the Strait are the Asia-Africa-Europe cable, the Falcon cable, and the Gulf Bridge International cable.
