US President Trump did not specifically address reports of new strikes in Iran, during an appearance broadcast on Fox News on Monday evening. But he pointed out that the United States “may have to target Ax Mountain,” a suspected underground nuclear facility. Israel believes that Tehran stores part of its stockpile of enriched uranium and advanced centrifuges dedicated to enrichment.
“Well, we can do it whenever we want, any time we want.” Trump has hinted at the possibility of an attack on several occasions since the war broke out, including in July, when he said the United States would hit “Ax Mountain probably very soon.”
For his part, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei warned, in a statement on Saturday, that any new large-scale attack would be met with a response “that is not limited by geographical restrictions.” A high-ranking security official in Tehran also told Ofoq News that Iran will seek to target infrastructure beyond oil facilities, including infrastructure related to artificial intelligence.
