Today, Saturday, the Yemeni armed forces took control of Fort Sami, southeast of Taiz, following violent confrontations with the Houthi militias.
A military source told the Yemeni News Agency, "Saba", that "the armed forces, supported by popular resistance from the people of the Sami District, were able to control the Sami Fort after violent battles with the Houthi militias."
He added, "The operation resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of Houthi militia members, and the escape of a number of other Houthi militia members."
The Yemeni Armed Forces announced, on Friday, that they had carried out 71 precise targeting operations against gatherings, combat concentrations and reinforcements belonging to the Houthi militia in the areas of Al-Aqroud, Sami’, Al-Ahkoum, Al-Akbush, Jabal Rasin, Jabal Jardad, Bani Omar, Bani Bakari, Al-Kaawish and Al-Athawar in Taiz Governorate.
The official spokesman for the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Majid Al-Nuzaili, explained that the targeting operations resulted in the destruction of a number of enemy transportation and support means, the neutralization of militia members, and the loss of their formations’ ability to continue fighting.
Al-Nuzaili stressed that the armed forces continue to perform their duties with steadfastness and high fighting will, and that Taiz will remain stubborn against the Houthi militia, and that attempts to undermine it or impose a reality on it will be destroyed in the face of the steadfastness of its people and the steadfastness of our armed forces.
