After a video documenting what was said to be the discovery of an archaeological cemetery during the work of a solar energy company in Aswan Governorate spread widely on social media during the past hours, the Ministry of Interior denied the matter completely and in detail.
Al-Wara confirmed in a statement published yesterday evening, Saturday, on its official website, that the security services monitored the circulation of the video in which a person claimed to have found an archaeological tomb during the work of a foreign solar energy company in Aswan.
She explained that there are no archaeological evidence in the place referred to, and that the traces of the holes that appeared in the video result from the presence of rock cracks and natural faults in the area.
She also added that the security services were able to identify and arrest the person who filmed and published the video, and it turned out that he was a resident worker at the Second Aswan Police Department.
She indicated that the detainee admitted to fabricating the claim and filming and publishing the video with the aim of “increasing viewership rates and achieving financial profits,” stressing that the necessary legal measures would be taken regarding the incident.
The video clip sparked interaction on social media, after it included allegations about the discovery of an archaeological cemetery at a site belonging to a solar energy company in Aswan, before the security services revealed the truth of the incident and denied the existence of an archaeological discovery at the site.
