The Egyptian security services succeeded in uncovering the circumstances of the disappearance of a 16-year-old Sudanese girl, and returning her safely to her family after an extensive search operation that lasted for days and included areas more than 150 kilometers away from her place of residence.
The incident began after the Egyptian authorities received a report stating the disappearance of the Sudanese girl, Walaa Abu Bakr Muhammad Al-Naim, from Al-Libini Street in the Faisal area of Giza Governorate.
Investigations revealed that the girl’s family recently moved to live in the area, and that she went out on Sunday afternoon to buy medicine for her mother from one of the pharmacies located on the main street, but she did not return home after that, which raised her family’s concern and prompted them to inform the competent authorities.
According to what surveillance camera recordings showed, the girl encountered a group of stray dogs at the entrance to the property where she lives after leaving the pharmacy, which prompted her to retreat and walk in the opposite direction behind the pharmacy, before she disappeared from detection range.
In addition, the security services tried to track the girl’s itinerary through surveillance cameras spread in the area, but limited coverage and the lack of sufficient cameras prevented her from being accurately determined, which prompted the authorities to expand the scope of the search to include different areas within the governorate and neighboring governorates.
Intensive search efforts resulted in locating the girl in the city of Tanta in Gharbia Governorate, more than 150 kilometers from the site of her disappearance, where her presence was confirmed and she is in good health.
For its part, the Sudanese embassy in Cairo announced the success of joint efforts between it and the Egyptian security services in finding the girl and returning her to her family.
The embassy explained that it had received security information about the girl’s presence in Tanta, which prompted it to send a representative to the city to coordinate with the relevant authorities, before her family went to receive her and return her to Cairo.
She also confirmed that the case had received follow-up and interest from various Sudanese official authorities since the moment the disappearance was reported, praising the cooperation shown by the Egyptian security services, which allocated several teams and continued search and follow-up operations over the past days until they ended in finding the girl and returning her to her family safely.
