The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies and the King Abdulaziz Foundation signed a memorandum of cooperation, today, at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh, with the aim of enhancing joint work in the research, scientific and cognitive fields, exchanging experiences, and implementing a number of programs and activities between the two sides.
The memorandum was signed by the Secretary-General of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Princess Maha bint Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, and the CEO of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, Turki bin Muhammad Al-Shuwaier, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, Prince Turki bin Abdulaziz, and the Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation, Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The memorandum comes within the framework of the efforts of the Center and the Department to achieve integration between their efforts, and to expand the areas of joint work, in a way that contributes to the development of programs and research and knowledge activities, and to benefit from the capabilities and expertise available on both sides in the service of scientific research, and to preserve historical sources and materials and make them available to researchers.
The memorandum includes cooperation in academic studies and research of common interest, providing opportunities for researchers to benefit from scientific and historical information and materials, exchanging experiences and technical and advisory services, in addition to organizing conferences, seminars, forums, courses, exhibitions, forums and workshops.
Areas of cooperation also include translating books and research related to the topics and languages of the Center’s “UNESCO Chair for the Translation of Cultures,” which is affiliated with the Center and supported by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, and supporting publishing and participation in research related to the areas of specialization of both sides, in addition to encouraging researchers to apply for grants to publish doctoral dissertations provided by the Chair.
Areas of cooperation extend to the preservation and maintenance of historical materials, through sterilization, treatment, restoration and binding, in addition to providing technical consultations and training courses, exchanging photos, manuscripts, visual materials, information, expertise and publications, as well as cooperation in the field of digitization and document preservation.
