The Prime Minister of Pakistan comments on the Houthis targeting King Khalid and Abha International Airports in Saudi Arabia

The Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his strong condemnation of the attacks by the Houthi group, supported by Iran, on Saudi Arabia, after targeting King Khalid International Airports in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, stressing that Islamabad stands with Saudi Arabia. Sharif previously wrote on his page on the “X” platform, Twitter: “I strongly condemn the repeated terrorist attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport, which resulted in deaths and injuries to civilians,” and the Prime Minister of Pakistan continued: “I commend the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi armed forces and coalition forces in intercepting a number of ballistic missiles, and their tireless efforts to protect innocent lives and maintain the security of the Kingdom.”

Shahbaz Sharif, whose country and Saudi Arabia are linked by the Mecca Defense Agreement, added: “Pakistan stands steadfastly and in firm solidarity alongside the leadership and people of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In line with the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, and the recent decisions taken by its political and defense strategic committee, our commitment to the Kingdom’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security is firm and unwavering.”

The Prime Minister of Pakistan affirmed his country's full support for "the legitimate right of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend its people and protect its cities and vital infrastructure." The Prime Minister of Pakistan concluded his post by saying: “The Houthi militia must stop these attacks immediately.

Pakistan will continue to stand side by side with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of these threats.” The Houthis targeted the two main airports in Riyadh and Abha, resulting in three deaths and a number of injuries, according to what was announced by the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in light of the military escalation in Yemen between the forces of the internationally recognized Yemeni government supported by Riyadh and the Houthi group supported by Iran.
