Reza Pahlavi, the son of the late Shah of Iran and a prominent opponent of the Iranian regime, accused Tehran of continuing to destabilize the region, considering that the attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh represents the latest evidence that the Iranian regime does not seek peace.

Pahlavi said, in a post on the “X” platform, that the Iranian regime has been waging war on Saudi Arabia since 1979, directly or through the groups it supports, adding that Tehran has sought throughout this period to destabilize the Kingdom and the region.

Pahlavi expressed his condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Saudi people, for the victims of the attack, which he described as a “terrorist.”

He added that the Houthis and their campaign to destabilize will not end, as he put it, except with the liberation of Iran and the restoration of friendly relations between the two countries.

Pahlavi's position comes in the context of his continued opposition to the Islamic Republic since its establishment in 1979, following the revolution that overthrew the rule of his father, Shah Muhammad Reza Pahlavi.

Since leaving Iran, he has been living in exile, working to mobilize support to change the political system in his country, calling for the establishment of a democratic system that allows Iranians to choose their political future.

Pahlavi is considered one of the most prominent opposition figures abroad, and in recent years he has intensified his political movements and statements calling for an end to the rule of the Islamic Republic, based on the internal protests that Iran has witnessed, and on his calls to unify the opposition forces. His statements regarding the attack on Riyadh reflect his link between the future of the Iranian regime and the nature of Tehran’s regional relations, as he believes that ending policies of intervention and support for armed groups is linked to changing the regime in Iran and rebuilding its relations with the countries of the region.
