Despite Trump's denials, the Revolutionary Guard is preparing for new attacks

Despite US President Donald Trump's denials, Iranian Revolutionary Guard spokesman Hossein Mohebi did not rule out that the United States would launch attacks on Iran before the midterm congressional elections scheduled for next November 3.

Spokesman Hussein Mohebi believed that this is “a very realistic possibility,” considering that “the Trump administration needs a success that can be cited before the midterm elections,” he said. Note that the majority of polls show that such attacks may negatively affect Trump and the Republican Party to which he belongs.

However, the spokesman claimed that his country was prepared for such a scenario, according to what was reported by the Tehran Times newspaper.

At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said today that he does not support a pre-emptive strike against Iran before the Israeli elections scheduled for October 27, but at the same time he warned Tehran and armed groups allied with it against launching any attack on Israel. “This matter is not appropriate for us and is not good,” Netanyahu said in an interview with Israeli Army Radio, in response to a question about the possibility of launching a pre-emptive strike and what his political opponents say about his seeking a military confrontation before the elections. He added, "Even if Iran fires missiles at us, they will blame me," but he also repeated his previous warnings to Tehran, and stressed that Israel would respond forcefully if it was attacked.

While he did not go into details about the possibility of launching a pre-emptive strike after the elections or about his recent talks with Washington regarding Iran.

Concerns have increased recently about renewed escalation between Tehran and Washington, amid reports that Trump and Netanyahu are discussing the possibility of launching quick strikes against Iran ahead of the elections.

Last Thursday, Trump denied his intention to launch an attack on Iran before the elections.

In contrast, the Iranian leadership pointed to previous attacks that occurred while negotiations with the United States were still ongoing.
