Rawabi - Ofoq News - Today, Monday, the city of Rawabi hosted a delegation of more than 100 tourist guides from various Palestinian governorates, Jerusalem, and the 48 regions, in a professional visit organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Tourist Guides Association, with the aim of enhancing the city’s presence within the organized tourist routes, and expanding the horizons of cooperation with workers in the tourism sector to attract more visitors and tourist groups.
The delegation, which was headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Saleh Ali Tawafsha, included; The Director General of the Ministry, Osama Stetiya, and the President of the Tourist Guides Association, along with representatives of institutions operating in the Palestinian tourism sector, were received by the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Bayti Real Estate Investment Company, Riyad Nazzal.
The founder of the city of Rawabi, Bashar Al-Masry, welcomed the delegation, stressing the importance of this visit in introducing tour guides closely to the experience of Rawabi and its facilities, and expressing his aspiration that the visit would constitute the beginning of broader cooperation that would contribute to including the city in Palestinian tourism programs and trips.
The visit began with a field tour that included a number of Rawabi neighborhoods and their main facilities, where participants learned about the city’s experience in urban planning and development, and learned about its commercial, entertainment and service facilities and infrastructure, and the activities and experiences it provides that can be included in tourism programs and group trips.
During a meeting held in the city center, the two sides reviewed the tourism potential of Rawabi and discussed ways to enhance cooperation with tourist guides and tour operators, through developing integrated itineraries and programs for visits to the city, including facilitating the reception of delegations and tourist groups and enhancing coordination with agencies and institutions working in the sector.
In his comment on the visit, Tawafsha stressed the importance of developing and diversifying the Palestinian tourism product and expanding the scope of destinations and itineraries available to visitors, saying: “Developing Palestinian tourism requires providing more diverse options and experiences, and building integration between historical and religious destinations, cities and modern experiences, and Rawabi, with its infrastructure, facilities and distinctive urban experience, constitutes an important addition to the Palestinian tourism map and opens the way for new programs and itineraries that attract more visitors.”
He pointed out that the Ministry attaches importance to expanding the partnership with the private sector, tourist guides and tour operators, as they are key partners in developing the tourism product and introducing Palestinian destinations, stressing the importance of building programs and itineraries that link various sites and give the visitor a more diverse and integrated experience.
In turn, Nazzal said that enhancing the tourist presence of Rawabi comes as an extension of the vision of the city’s founder, Bashar Al-Masry, to build an integrated city that combines housing, work, commerce, culture, and entertainment, and creates an economic movement whose effects extend to its surroundings. He added: “Rawabi today possesses the elements that qualify it to be a major station on the map of domestic tourism. It does not offer the visitor a single facility, but rather an integrated city experience that can form an essential part of tourist programs and trips in Palestine.”
He added that direct cooperation with tourist guides, companies and tour operators represents a practical step towards expanding the city’s visitor base and developing programs that respond to the needs of individuals, families and groups, stressing that the integration of efforts between the public and private sectors constitutes a basis for developing Palestinian tourism and enhancing its economic impact.
This initiative comes to consolidate the city’s position as one of the most prominent tourist, entertainment and commercial destinations in Palestine, based on its modern infrastructure, integrated facilities, and public, commercial and entertainment spaces that make it an advanced urban model and a unique Palestinian experience capable of attracting visitors from various Palestinian regions, especially Jerusalem and the 48 regions.
Rawabi seeks to build on this visit by developing sustainable partnerships with tour guides and tourism companies and expanding the city’s inclusion in organized trips and programmes, allowing visitors to learn about its urban, economic and recreational experience, and contributing to stimulating domestic tourism and commercial activity and supporting the local economy.
