Bethlehem - Ofoq News - The Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, announced the recall of about 1.7 million vehicles worldwide, due to a possible failure of the steering system.
This decision comes in the wake of a similar step taken by the parent company, Volkswagen, and its two subsidiaries, Audi and Seat, just days ago, to withdraw millions of vehicles as a result of the same technical problem.
According to data from the German Federal Transport Authority, the danger stems from the possibility of the steering system's "fixing bolt" breaking, which could jeopardize the safety of the vehicle.
As a mandatory corrective measure, the company will replace the existing bolt with one made of corrosion-resistant materials to ensure durability and safety on the road.
The list of Skoda vehicles subject to recall includes four main models: “Kodiaq,” “Karoq,” “Octavia,” and “Superb.”
The Volkswagen Group confirmed in a brief statement that internal quality checks were the ones that detected this potential problem in the steering systems of certain models. However, a spokesperson for the group declined to provide any additional technical details about the scope of the flaw or the root causes behind it.
