Wadi Rum, Jordan - An international event was launched in the Wadi Rum region in southern Jordan, combining freestyle jumping from hot air balloons, air sports and aerial photography, with the participation of about 16 jumpers, paramotor pilots, photographers and specialists from a number of European countries. The event continues until October 10, in an experience that is the first of its kind hosted by the region, and takes advantage of the desert nature and distinctive rock formations of Wadi Rum, one of the most prominent natural tourism and adventure sites in southern Jordan.
The event is organized by the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority in Jordan in cooperation with the “Balloons Over Rum” company and a number of European clubs specialized in air sports and parachuting, and includes a program for free jumping from balloons and paramotor sports, in addition to photography and visual activities from the air. The aim of the visit to Aqaba is to familiarize participants with the tourist attractions in the region, and to link the desert and air experience in Wadi Rum with tourist activities in Aqaba, thus enhancing integration between the two destinations within what is known in southern Jordan as the “Golden Triangle”, which includes Aqaba, Wadi Rum, and the ancient city of Petra.
