The US Central Command (Centcom) said on Monday that a statement by a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander earlier today that Tehran fully controls the Strait of Hormuz is an “incorrect claim.” She added on the X platform: “Iran does not have a naval force because American forces sank it.
Iran also does not control the Strait of Hormuz, and evidence of this is the passage of thousands of ships freely through the Strait, in addition to the transfer of more than a billion barrels of oil during the past few months alone.” The Iranian Mehr News Agency had indicated earlier Monday that the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Army, Habibullah Sayyari, said that “the area west of the Strait of Hormuz, the Strait itself, and the Persian Gulf are under the full control of the Naval Force of the Revolutionary Guard.”
He continued: "While the area east of the strait and the northern Indian Ocean is under the full control of the army's naval force." He also said: “We are working ably in the northern Sea of Oman and east of the Strait of Hormuz, and we are not allowing anyone to pass.
On the other side, our brothers in the Revolutionary Guards stand firm. The enemy's statements are a separate matter; The reality is that the Strait of Hormuz is under our complete control.”
The US President repeated his statements that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and that it is open to navigation under American protection.
