Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, said on Saturday that her country fired a medium-range strategic missile during a firing exercise that took place earlier today.
The Korean Central News Agency (North Korea's official agency) quoted Chung, the second most powerful figure in Pyongyang, as saying in an announcement: "At dawn this morning, a training took place to launch a strategic weapon towards the East Korean Sea."
She added: “A medium-range strategic missile was used in the training.”
According to the agency, Korean leader Un personally supervised the training carried out by a firepower subunit.
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff early monitored the North's launch of a ballistic missile towards the East Sea, in the early morning hours of today, Saturday, from the eastern coastal area of Wonsan in North Korea.
