On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi responded to statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Israel’s readiness to move militarily against Iran independently of the United States, warning that Tehran had emerged from the previous confrontation stronger, stressing that it also had “scores that have not yet been settled.” Araqchi said in a post on the “X” platform, Twitter previously: “The last time you wanted to end the matter, Iran came out stronger than before.
Please, but be careful. We, too, have accounts that have not yet been settled.” Araqchi accused Netanyahu of seeking to drag the United States into a new war with the aim of avoiding imprisonment, saying: “Netanyahu is pushing America into a new war to save himself from imprisonment, whatever the consequences for Israel, not to mention the American president,” he said.
Araqchi's response comes after Netanyahu's statements, during a security briefing to Israeli journalists in Jerusalem, on Sunday, in which he said that Israel will act independently if necessary, stressing that Israeli security requirements do not depend on the approval of the United States, according to what was reported by Israeli media. These statements come in light of continued tension between Tehran and Tel Aviv, and renewed mutual warnings of the possibility of a new military confrontation, at a time when controversy continues regarding the role of the United States and the extent of its readiness to support any Israeli move against Iran.
