Alaa Mubarak, son of the late Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, opposed a statement by the former Secretary-General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, in which he touched on the changes taking place in the region and their impact on Egypt. Amr Moussa said in his statement at the Ibrahim Al-Muallem Cultural Salon, on Thursday, and was reported by Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper: “I am truly afraid that one of the basic principles of the current change is that Egypt will not be a leader in this region.”
Alaa Mubarak cited what was reported by Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, commenting in a post on his page on the One country, no matter how powerful it is, can solve and face these challenges that the region is witnessing on its own; it requires collective coordination and consensus among the countries of the region (Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, etc.), due to the influential economic and diplomatic power and human weight that these countries possess. The most important thing is collective coordination and consensus and working to invest in the relative advantages of each country, and this is what achieves stability, not competition for the leadership seat.”
