Social media accounts circulated a video clip allegedly linked to a Houthi attack on Aramco oil facilities in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The video shows nighttime scenes of a burning fire and a thick plume of smoke, accompanied by a misleading description that says: “The fire at the Saudi Aramco facility in Riyadh is still continuing intensely at this moment.
A large cloud of smoke covers the sky of the capital. The clip appeared for the first time on February 19, 2025, when it was published by an account on the TikTok platform.
At the time, the publishing account reported that the footage was of a “fire in the second industrial city in Dammam.” Ofek News in Arabic previously scrutinized this clip when accounts published it last March, claiming it was related to an attack on the Shaybah field in southeastern Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the first days of the war between Iran and the United States.
The return of the video to circulation coincided with the announcement by the Houthi group in Yemen, supported by Iran, of launching attacks “targeting Aramco” in Riyadh, according to what the spokesman for the Houthi forces, Yahya Saree, said on Saturday evening. While the Saudi authorities have not yet commented on these allegations.
