“A striking regional force.” Alaa Mubarak comments on Egypt’s support for Saudi Arabia

Alaa Mubarak, son of the late Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, commented on his country’s position in support of Saudi Arabia, after President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called on Parliament to vote on authorization to send Egyptian forces to the Kingdom. Alaa Mubarak said, in a blog post on the X platform, Twitter previously: “The bottom line is that Egypt is a bulwark and support for its brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Egypt’s standing by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is based on the historical ties of brotherhood that connect the two countries and the concept of common Arab national security, and not a questioning of the Kingdom’s military capabilities.”

Alaa Mubarak stressed that “Saudi Arabia is a striking regional power that is fully capable of protecting its lands and preserving its sovereignty, and this is something that cannot be questioned or disputed. The Egyptian position reflects the cohesion between the two countries and the emphasis that Gulf security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed on Saturday that “Egypt is ready to implement any measure requested by Saudi Arabia to defend its security and sovereignty,” adding: “We stand strongly to protect and defend the lands of our brothers in the Gulf.” The Egyptian President added: “We must acknowledge the kindness done by the brothers in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Kuwait, and thank them for their support for Egypt after 2013,” pointing out that “the support of the brothers in the Gulf for Egypt played a vital role in restoring the capabilities of the Egyptian state.”

On Sunday morning, Sisi chaired a meeting of the National Defense Council, to discuss “full standing” with Saudi Arabia, while the House of Representatives began its emergency sessions, in response to the president’s request to authorize him in any intervention requested by Saudi Arabia to protect and defend it.
