Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sipha said, in a post on the “X” platform, on Sunday, that President Volodymyr Zelensky has the support of the Ukrainian people, and that the people alone have the right to resolve this issue.
Ssibha added: “President Zelensky is leading our nation in a time of war, which is a war for independence, freedom and dignity. He has the support of the Ukrainian people, and the people have the right to make decisions,” the Ukrainian national news agency Ukrinform reported.
Sibha said that statements issued from abroad only confirm that the president is performing his duties properly.
Ssibha added that Zelenskyy deserves support.
US President Donald Trump announced that the time has come for Ukraine to have a new president, noting that Zelensky did not make sufficient efforts to end the war that his country is waging with Russia, according to the Associated Press.
Speaking at the White House on Saturday, Trump said: “I suggest that they choose a new leader who can reach an agreement,” adding: “For some reason, Zelensky never does that.”
Addressing Zelensky, Trump added: “You have lost 30% of your country’s territory, you have more than a million people moving between the two sides, and more than two million people have been killed. This is a war that should never have started in the first place. I believe it is time for Ukraine to have a new president.”
