Dr. Sulaiman Al-Habib Hospital in Riyadh received more than 64 people injured as a result of the Houthi terrorist attack on King Khalid International Airport, while the injured were distributed to a number of hospitals in the capital to receive the necessary medical care, according to what Al-Arabiya correspondent Abdul Rahman Al-Osaimi reported.
Al-Osaimi explained during a report from the hospital that the injuries varied between moderate and light, while limited cases were transferred to intensive care, noting that some of them included burns, while other injuries included bruises and fractures in the limbs.
He added that the injured went to a number of health facilities in Riyadh, with priority given to hospitals near the site of the attack, most notably Princess Noura University Hospital, in addition to King Fahad Medical City and other hospitals.
The Saudi authorities confirmed that all injured people receive the necessary medical care, with rehabilitation services available after discharge from hospitals free of charge for cases that require it.
The Al Arabiya correspondent indicated that he visited a number of injured people inside the hospital, noting that their morale was high despite what they were exposed to as a result of the attack.
In terms of reactions, Al-Osaimi pointed to a state of anger in the Saudi street over the attack, coinciding with widespread interaction across social media platforms, where the hashtag “Saudi Arabia is a red line” topped the circulation, amid participation from citizens in Arab countries, including Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, and Palestine, in light of the fall of victims and injuries of different nationalities.
In parallel, he pointed out that daily life in the capital, Riyadh, continued normally, with employees going to work and residents practicing their usual activities without noticing widespread changes in work patterns or disruption of public activities.
Regarding King Khalid International Airport, Al Arabiya’s correspondent reported that operations to assess the material damage and verify the safety of the facilities are still underway, indicating expectations that flights will gradually resume in the coming hours, according to the information available at the time of preparing the report.
He explained that the expansion of the airport, which includes about five buildings designated for domestic and international flights, makes the process of assessing the damage and ensuring the readiness of the facilities require additional time.
The Saudi authorities confirm that the safety of citizens, residents and visitors is their top priority, provided that operation at the airport will resume after ensuring its readiness and the safety of facilities and procedures related to air traffic.
