Salfit - Ofoq News - Today, armed settlers attacked olive pickers in the town of Deir Ballut, west of Salfit, and detained the family of citizen Walid Damra, before the Israeli occupation forces arrested six farmers from the western area of the town, next to the apartheid wall, after beating them.
Activist Daoud Abdullah said that armed settlers attacked olive pickers in Deir Ballut, detained the family of citizen Walid Damra, and beat him, leaving him with bruises and wounds.
Abdullah added that the occupation forces arrested six farmers from the western area of the town, near the apartheid wall, noting that citizen Walid Damra was among the detainees, after he was injured as a result of the settlers’ assault on him.
The olive season is considered one of the most important agricultural seasons in Salfit Governorate, because of the economic and social value it represents for thousands of Palestinian families. However, the continuing attacks impede farmers’ access to their lands and place them at risk of assault, injury, and arrest as they attempt to collect their fruits and preserve their lands.
