Settlers attack farmers and prevent them from picking olives in Salfit

Salfit - Ofoq News - Today, Wednesday, settlers attacked a number of farmers while they were picking olives in the Wadi al-Ahmar area located between the villages of Yasuf and Marda, northeast of Salfit, and prevented them from continuing to work, in an attack that included pepper spraying and the confiscation of the olives that the farmers were able to pick.

Farmers reported that a group of settlers attacked them while they were on their land picking olives, and forced them to leave the place under threat, while the settlers sprayed pepper gas at a citizen and his children, wounding them in the face, before the Red Crescent crews in Marda provided the necessary aid and treatment to them.

The same source added that the settlers confiscated the quantities of olives they were able to harvest, and prevented them from completing the harvesting work on their lands, which caused them financial losses, coinciding with the start of the olive season, which thousands of farmers depend on as a main source of income.

Following the attack, Israeli occupation army forces stormed the area and detained a number of farmers for hours, while confiscating two agricultural vehicles under the pretext of not having a license.

This attack comes in light of the escalation of attacks against farmers in Salfit Governorate as the olive harvest season approaches, and the accompanying denial of access to agricultural lands, attacks on farmers, and the theft of fruits, which threatens their agricultural season and doubles their losses.
