- A source told Ofoq News that Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, has arrived in St. Petersburg, Russia. On Tuesday, Witkov met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders in Norway.
A US official told Ufoq News that Witkopf is heading to Russia to "test" whether a new peace plan could form the basis for peace talks. The official said that Witkov "hopes to meet with President Putin and present ideas that were developed in close consultation with Ukraine and European partners."
This visit comes in light of a new American effort to end the war, which has led to a widening of the gap between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
