Egypt.. The Interior Ministry announces the suspension of an advertising screen after “extra” footage was broadcast on it

On Thursday, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed details about the hacking of an advertising screen belonging to one of the advertising companies contracted with an international company. The screen was suspended after broadcasting footage that it described as “outside” it. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior said in a post on its official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “On the 29th of this month, security follow-up monitored the presence of a hack on an advertisement screen on a road in Giza, and some footage was broadcast on it.”

The Ministry added: “Upon examination, it was found that the banner belonged to one of the advertising companies contracted with an international company to broadcast its advertisements on its screens electronically, and the international company’s website was subjected to an electronic hacking, and this footage was broadcast on the aforementioned advertisement screen and similar screens in several countries at the same time.” The Ministry concluded by saying: “The company, for its part, took the necessary technical measures to stop broadcasting on its screens until the hack is dealt with and normal broadcasting is restored again.”
