The Egyptian security services were able to thwart an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of firearms and ammunition, after they were seized inside a passenger train at the Naga Hammadi railway station, north of the governorate, before it arrived in the capital, Cairo.
In detail, Major General Mohamed Hamed, Director of Qena Security, received notification of the success of the security force charged with securing Train No. 187 coming from Aswan on its way to Cairo, in suspecting and finding 6 bags inside the carriages while the train was stopping at the station.
The inspection and seizure operations resulted in a large toll that included 56 automatic weapons, 3,000 firearms, and 80 weapon magazines. Immediately, the security services seized all the seized items and prepared the necessary report on the incident.
The Public Prosecution was notified to initiate investigations, which in turn ordered the investigations to be carried out quickly to uncover the circumstances of the incident and determine its dimensions.
