In a poignant humanitarian scene, the father of Egyptian flight attendant Azza Ramzy collapsed in tears, talking about his daughter, who died as a result of her injury in the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The father appeared in an interview with Al-Arabi, affected by his daughter’s passing, recalling the pain of loss, especially since her mother died four years ago, and expressing his gratitude for the arrival of his daughter’s body to Egypt.
Despite the harshness of the moment, the father was keen to praise God and thank him for the return of his daughter’s body to the homeland, in words that reflected the extent of the grief that the family was experiencing, and her adherence to the wish that Azza would settle in her final resting place next to her departed family members, her mother and grandmother.
Azza, a 28-year-old Egyptian woman who belongs to the Al-Atf area of the Mahmoudiyah Center in Beheira Governorate, was working for the Saudi company Flynas, where she resided in the Kingdom during her work period.
But Azza died as a result of her injury in the attack that targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, turning her story into a human tragedy for her family, who waited for her daughter to return to the country, before her body arrived home to complete her funeral and burial procedures.
Azza's body returned to Egypt amidst a state of grief among her family members, so that the journey waiting for her return ended with a final farewell, while her father's words and tears remained a witness to the pain of losing his daughter.
The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority announced that the “brutal attack” that targeted King Khalid Airport, last Saturday afternoon, caused the death of 12 people, including citizens and residents, and the injury of 309 others. It stated that the death toll included 4 citizens and residents, including two of Bangladeshi nationality, one of American nationality, one of Egyptian nationality, one of Jordanian nationality, a Syrian person, another Palestinian, and a Sudanese person.
