Actress Yasmine Sabry continues to search for new spaces for diversity in her artistic career, by choosing works that give her the opportunity to appear in different forms, and expanding the circle of characters that she presents on screen. Since her beginnings, Yasmine has been keen to build her presence in drama and cinema, with a clear interest in the image she appears in front of the audience. In recent years, she has turned to experiments that combine comedy, action, and social relationships, in an attempt to present roles that go beyond a single style.
Her participation in the movie “Family Wanted” comes within these endeavors, as she embarks on a social comedy experience that brings her together with the artist Karim Abdel Aziz, in a work that places family relationships at the heart of events, and draws part of his positions on daily details and disputes that can arise between family members.
During the film, Yasmine introduces the character “May”, who has a close relationship with her brother, but finds herself in multiple situations because of his actions, which opens the door to comic paradoxes that interfere with the family course of the story.
The experience does not depend on direct comedy alone, but rather on the nature of the characters and their interaction with the situations they face, which gives the work space to combine entertainment and social topics. Yasmine's return to this type of work also represents an extension of previous experiences she had in comedy, with the difference in the nature of each character and the world within which she moves.
Yasmine spoke with Al Arabiya.net and Al Hadath.net about her happiness in cooperating with Karim Abdel Aziz, praising his experience, professionalism, and the atmosphere of working with him. She also revealed part of the behind-the-scenes filming in Malaysia, the nature of the character she presents, and her vision for comedy that is suitable for a family audience.
Actress Yasmine Sabry said that her enthusiasm for the movie “Family Wanted” was linked to its social and comedic nature, and to the situations it presents in which the audience can find themselves, noting that family works provide a space to combine entertainment and deal with human relationships in a simple and close to people way.
She added that comedy is not necessarily limited to telling jokes or relying on funny situations directly, but rather it can arise from the actions of characters, their contradictions, and the way they deal with problems, which gives the events vitality and makes laughter part of the dramatic context.
She indicated that she loves presenting this type of work, which allows her to get closer to the audience through a character with familiar features, and who moves in a social context that different age groups can interact with.
Regarding the character she embodies in the film, Yasmine Sabry spoke about “May,” explaining that she is an Egyptian girl who is connected to her family, and has a special relationship with her brother, as she deals with him with tolerance despite the problems and difficult situations he may cause.
She added that the character carries characteristics that can be found in many girls in Egypt and the Arab world, whether in the way she deals with family members or in her reactions to the situations she is exposed to, which makes her close to reality and does not seem far from people's lives.
Yasmine Sabry expressed her happiness in working with the artist Karim Abdel Aziz, praising his artistic and professional experience, in addition to his lightheartedness and ability to create a positive atmosphere on the filming site.
She explained that cooperating with an artist who has this experience represents an opportunity to benefit from his style of work, especially in comedies that require harmony between actors and the ability to interact with situations naturally.
Yasmine Sabry touched on the scenes of filming the film in Malaysia, noting that the experience was enjoyable, and that the work included action scenes and car chases that served the development of events.
She explained that the film combines family and comedic situations with some action elements, but it does not depend on presenting them within a traditional action framework, pointing out that her role is mainly focused on the social and family side of the story, and not on implementing direct action scenes.
She also indicated her enjoyment of working with artist Mustafa Khater and director Moataz El Touni, stressing the importance of harmony between the work team in providing an experience that combines lightness and speed of rhythm.
Speaking about comedy, Yasmine Sabry explained that she had previous experiences in this field, including the films “The Boogeyman,” “Hell in India,” and “Abu Nasab,” but she believes that each experience has its own nature, and that the difference in characters and topics forces the artist to search for a style that suits the work in which he participates.
She added that the comedy that attracts her is that which stems from the situations and relationships between characters, and does not depend on exaggeration alone, noting that family works give the artist an opportunity to present a character that the audience can interact with on different levels.
