A plane belonging to the Emirati company "Flydubai" landed safely at Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, after it was involved in an accident during a flight that was heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv, after sending emergency signals following a quarrel between the pilots.
Tabuk Airport revealed that it had received a distress call from a Flydubai flight to make an emergency landing at 8:44 am, and the airport stated that it had declared a state of emergency and was on alert as soon as the distress call from the plane arrived.
The flight tracking website (Flight Radar 24) indicated that the Flydubai flight (FZ 1073) heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv diverted its course over Jordanian airspace towards Saudi Arabia, and sent a general emergency signal, before sending another emergency signal indicating the possibility of being exposed to a threat several minutes later.
At the same time, the website reported that “the Boeing 737 plane, which Israeli media said had about 150 Israeli passengers on board, then sent the general emergency signal again before landing at Tabuk Airport in northwestern Saudi Arabia.” The Flight Radar 24 website reported that the plane’s data seemed to indicate a sudden and rapid descent of approximately 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds before the first emergency signal was issued.
For his part, a Flydubai spokesman said that the plane was involved in an “accident” while heading to Tel Aviv, and its course was diverted to Tabuk, where it landed safely. The spokesman added that all passengers were fine, without providing further details.
According to data from the flight tracking website “Flight Radar 24”, the plane, a Boeing 737, deviated from its course while flying over Jordanian airspace and headed towards Saudi Arabia.
