After years of absence from theaters and reviving concerts, Lebanese singer Fadl Shaker returns to meet his fans, but this time from Riyadh.
The head of the Saudi Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, announced in a post on his account on "X" today, Sunday, the return of Shaker after a long absence to the Abu Bakr Salem Theater as part of the Riyadh Season concerts. He wrote: "Many have asked about him, and many have waited for his return... The great artist Fadl Shaker will meet his audience from Riyadh after a long absence at the Abu Bakr Salem Theater on October 22nd.",
He also clarified that tickets will go on sale next Wednesday at 8 PM.
Meanwhile, Shaker later appeared in his first video, which Al-Sheikh also shared on his account on "X", confirming that he has arrived in the Saudi capital and has started preparing for the concert.
The Lebanese judiciary approved last July the release of the famous artist in 4 cases filed against him, the most notable of which is known as the 'Abra file', in exchange for a financial bail, after 9 months of his detention. Travel restrictions were also lifted, and he was handed back his passport.
Shakir, born to a Lebanese father and a Palestinian mother, is considered one of the most famous singers in the Arab world over the past three decades, known for his romantic works and the warmth of his voice, before he suddenly decided to retire from art in 2012.
He was also known for his supportive stance towards the Syrian revolution during the war and his opposition to Hezbollah.
Shakir, whose real name is Fadl Shamandar, is being tried after he surrendered to the Lebanese army on October 5, 2025, following a period of hiding in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp, in 4 separate security files, for which absent judgments had previously been issued ranging from 5 to 15 years in prison with hard labor, but the Lebanese singer pleaded his innocence in these cases.
It is noteworthy that in recent years, Shakir's appearances have been limited to media appearances and a few musical works, but he released new songs months before surrendering himself that gained wide popularity and received hundreds of millions of views.
