The head of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Issam Al-Ghariwati, discussed with the Chargé d'Affairs of the French Embassy in Damascus, Jean-Baptiste Vivre, ways to develop trade relations, enhance communication between companies in the two countries, and explore opportunities for cooperation and joint investment.
The Chamber explained that the meeting discussed the investment and company laws, and their aim to improve the business environment and enhance its flexibility and transparency, especially reducing the period required to establish companies from about three months to a week.
Al-Ghariwati reviewed the Chamber’s initiatives in the areas of business incubation, support for the Businesswomen’s Committee, and digital transformation, noting the possibility of benefiting from the Chamber’s database to organize direct business meetings, build partnerships between Syrian and French companies, and hold specialized discussions in priority sectors, according to the Syrian news agency “SANA.”
The two sides discussed preparations for the second Syrian-French Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in Damascus on November 17, and the importance of enhancing direct communication between company representatives was emphasized, by including bilateral business meetings (B2B) within its program, organizing specialized sectoral discussions, and taking advantage of communication periods and receptions to expand opportunities for acquaintance and building partnerships.
For his part, the French Chargé d'Affaires explained that the meeting aims to follow up on economic developments in Syria, identify the actual needs of the private sector, and support the path of economic transformation, stressing the importance of continuing communication with the Damascus Chamber of Commerce and Syrian companies.
