A presidential decree renewing confidence in Professor Dr. Hussein Shank as President of Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie

Ramallah - Ofoq News - President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, issued a presidential decree renewing confidence in Professor Dr. Hussein Shank as President of Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie for a second presidential term, based on the recommendations of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the University’s Board of Trustees, in appreciation of the academic, research and institutional development the university achieved during the first presidential term, and strengthening its presence at the local and international levels.

The renewal of confidence in Professor Dr. Shank comes after four years full of work and achievement, during which Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie continued its development path in various academic, research and institutional fields, despite the difficult economic challenges faced by the national economy, and the exceptional field conditions imposed by the Israeli occupation on Tulkarm Governorate and various governorates of the country, and the accompanying attacks, incursions, closures, damages and direct repercussions on economic, social, educational and higher education life.

Despite these circumstances, Khadouri maintained the continuity of its academic and national mission, and continued its efforts to develop the quality of education and its outcomes, implement its development plans, and enhance its research and academic capabilities, to record during the past years a set of qualitative achievements that contributed to strengthening its position within the Palestinian higher education system, and consolidating its presence in the Arab and international academic scene.

In the field of international classifications, the university entered the QS World University Rankings for the first time in its history, achieving a position in the 1201-1400 category globally, and third place in Palestine. It also continued its presence in international and regional rankings, and achieved progress in the Times Higher Education classification, including obtaining second place Palestinians in the Times Arab Universities Classification for the year 2026, in addition to its presence in the Times Impact and Sustainability rankings. It ranked second among Palestinians in the UI GreenMetric classification of green and sustainable universities for the year 2026.

In the field of scientific research and academic publishing, the university doubled its research production and expanded its presence in the international scientific publishing system, in addition to the entry of the Palestine Technical University Journal - Kadoorie into the Scopus database, which strengthened the research environment at the university and raised the presence of its researchers and their scientific production in international databases and academic journals.

In terms of international cooperation, the university has expanded over the past years its network of academic and research partnerships, and has embraced more than 20 international projects in partnership with international universities and academic institutions, a number of which it is leading, in addition to expanding academic and student exchange programs, which has allowed the university’s students and researchers to be open to global academic experiences and institutions, and to enhance Khadouri’s presence in international higher education networks.

The university also witnessed an expansion in its academic programs and the development of specific specializations that are compatible with the needs of the labor market. During his presidency, the College of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and the College of Allied Medical Sciences were created, in addition to the creation of a number of doctoral and master’s programs, and the development of integrative education programs, in parallel with strengthening the university’s orientation towards practical training and partnership with institutions and labor sectors, in a way that enhances the readiness of its graduates and aligns its programs with the requirements of national development and the labor market.

In the field of infrastructure and the educational environment, Kadoorie continued to develop its facilities, equip its laboratories and centers, and open modern laboratories in a number of specializations, in addition to implementing development projects in the university’s various branches, and working to provide a university environment more suitable for education, research and innovation.
